DNA & Genetic Mutations Simplified
DNA or Deoxyribonucleic acid, is the material that holds genetic instructions for the development, functioning, and hereditary traits of every living organism on the planet. Four smaller molecules called nucleotides make up all DNA at the basic level. Nucleotides are the building blocks of DNA. These building blocks are composed of three parts: phosphate, sugar, and one of four types of nitrogen bases: adenine (often denoted as "A"), cytosine ("C"), guanine ("G"), and thymine ("T").
